About Chapter One

Why Chapter One

The first book I ever read by myself (and enjoyed) was Harry Potter. At the ripe old age of nine, you could find me at recess reading the series. After taking a break from reading during my university days, the pandemic allowed me to re-learn my love of reading and immersing myself in different worlds. Fun fact about me: I love re-reading robust books, specifically fantasy. I used to re-read the Harry Potter series once or twice a year until the age of seventeen.

Every time I re-read a book, I learn more details,  have different viewpoints on interactions and plot points, and overall feel more connected to the story.

I view therapy in the same way. If you're a teen  or young adult, or have a few more decades than me in this world, you can still dive into your inner world and explore patterns, relationships, and society as a whole. Allow yourself to re-write your story, how you want it.

About Colleen

During my downtime I love spending time with my dog, crocheting a new project, and watching TV shows like Bridgerton and Below Deck, and movies like Marvel and Harry Potter. I camp often in the warmer months with my husband and our friends (but you won't ever catch me sleeping in a tent). My husband and I love to travel and try to get away at least once a year in the fall.

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph, majoring in Adult Development and minoring in Child and Family Studies. From there, I worked as a server, a program assistant at multiple long-term care homes, and a manager of community relations at a retirement home before moving to the non-profit world of volunteer recruitment.

My own therapy journey led me to pursue a career I had dreamt of in my undergrad. Through personal growth and supporting a father who suffered with a terminal illness for nine years, I am happy to have the lived experience as well as the formal education to support individuals on their own journey.

My mindset is simple: let me know your goals and let's work together to help you achieve them.
